I’ve started this blog as a way to gather my thoughts, feelings and findings about the compost heap I keep in the backyard of my home in Westport, Connecticut. Like my pile, these postings are a work in progress. I’ll add to the collection as I go and as best I can, wholesale and piecemeal, layer upon layer, from sources both local and far-flung. I will allow it all to sit, foment and mature. I’ll toss and turn it, mull it over, tend to it as the seasons turn. In time and like my pile itself always seems to do, perhaps this blog will become more than the sum of its parts and produce an end result of lasting and real value, even if only to me and my backyard.
